The Missouri State Fair started in 1901 with the mission to help visitors understand + appreciate agriculture's role in the state and keep agriculture one of Missouri’s top industries. Throughout the years, the fair’s competitions have played a vital role, with ribbons, money, and recognition for the best in class. 🥇

We're wheely excited for this big event, so we want to prep you with everything you need to know before you go. Ride with us. 🎡 Hours, tickets, parking -
The fair will be open daily from 7:30 a.m. until 10 p.m.
- Tickets + parking passes are available in person and online. Admission costs $3-$12.
- Parking is available on and off site, with free general public parking and $5 per day VIP parking.
- Pro tip: The Fair offers a different theme each day with specials for select groups (think: Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, Farm Family Day, Senior Appreciation Day, etc.), so check out the daily deal schedule and plan your trip for a day when you can save some money.
The concerts Some big names are headlining at the State Fair Grandstand. Pro tip: Grandstand tickets do not include fair admission.
Of course, no fair is complete without rides + games, and the Missouri State Fair will have plenty of those, too. Check out this year’s attractions, all the events for the whole family, and get your carnival tickets to make the most out of your visit. Whatever you do, give yourself plenty of time to explore it all — and wear comfy shoes. 🎠

Andy’s Frozen Custard is churning up a new location — at 7781 W. 159th St., Overland Park, KS. The new spot, one of the first shops to open at BluHawk, starts serving its sweets today at 11 a.m. along with the debut of a new menu item: caramel apples. 🍦
Development -
Construction for an Urban Outfitters distribution center — 118th Street + State Avenue in KCK — is ahead of schedule and slated to begin operations in June 2023. The 880,254-sqft building will cost $403 million + Kansas will pay the company $5 million for supporting 985 full-time and 739 part-time jobs upon completion. 🏢 (Kansas City Business Journal)

The City of Independence announced that Dutch Bros Coffee is brewing up a new location — 4131 S. Little Blue Parkway — and the former Joe’s Crab Shack building — 20001 E. Jackson Dr. — is being remodeled to accommodate Paramount Health and a future tenant. The city did not specify finish dates for the projects.
Coming Soon Traffic -
Heads up, Union Hill area drivers. KC Streetcar announced that Warwick Trafficway is closed until Mon., Aug 15 to accommodate streetcar track work. It’s recommended that you use Grand Boulevard as a detour this week. All businesses will remain open during construction. 🚆
Civic
Officials approved enhancements to the Johnson County Square in downtown Olathe. The ~$2 million project will add a multipurpose platform, a Memorial Plaza, an art garden play area + tree grove seating. The county also plans to relocate six existing historical structures to the square, like the Santa Fe Trail Monument from 1907. 🌳 (JoCoGov)
Sports -
Sportico shared that the value of the Chiefs increased by 15% from last year, now valued at $3.54 billion. This ranks the Chiefs at 20th among NFL teams + the Chiefs, Royals, and Sporting KC have a combined value of $5.3 billion. 💰
