First things first, make sure you’re eligible and registered to vote. Here are tools for Missouri and Kansas, where you can check status + polling place.
🗳️ When and how to vote Missouri: On Election Day, 6 a.m.-7 p.m. Kansas: On Election Day, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Pro tip: Early voting in Kansas has already started. If you’re ready and rarin’ to go today, here are the locations for Johnson and Wyandotte counties. You’ll be required to show either a photo ID or documentation that verifies your current address. Here are resources for what counts in Missouri and Kansas.

Development -
Wyandotte County officials voted to rezone the Rock Island Railroad Bridge, providing a path to construction starting in October. The abandoned rail bridge will become an entertainment district, connecting the West Bottoms to KCK with a food hall, bar + coffee shop, retail space, and an entertainment venue. 🌉 (KSHB 41)

Johnson County voted to contribute $15 million in infrastructure funding for the incoming Panasonic battery factory. $7.5 million will build a new fire station + $7.5 million will go toward road improvements. Additional funding support will come from state tax incentives, KDOT, and the City of De Soto. (FOX4)

Cooper’s Hawk is soaring into business with another area winery + restaurant — at 540 NW Chipman Rd., Lee's Summit, MO. The location opens today for lunch and dinner, including wine flights and tastings. The company has one other metro location — 4686 Broadway Blvd., Kansas City, MO. 🍷
Civic -
In addition to voting for candidates, Jackson County voters will decide on two issues regarding the Hickman Mills School District — to approve $20 million in bonds for facility improvements (which would not raise taxes) and to increase taxes for better teacher pay. Not a UFO — that’s the latest on a giant floating device recently spotted in Kansas. The navigable stratospheric balloon is from space exploration company World View. The apparatus is 20 stories tall and flies up to 60,000 ft high. Launch into our story about UFO sightings in KC. (FOX4) 🛸

KC Current drew against Orlando Pride in a close finish, 2-2. Forward Cece Kizer kicked the game-tying goal at the 82nd minute, extending Kansas City’s unbeaten streak to a franchise-best eight. The next home game is Fri., Aug. 19 against Angel City FC.
Travel -
Long lines at the airport? Passenger boardings have taken off at KCI, with nearly 50% more boardings this year compared to 2021. Let’s hope they have more gates at the new terminal, which is expected to take flight in March 2023. ✈️ (Kansas City Business Journal)

Young minds can bring their ideas to life in a state-of-the-art STEAM learning center in Leawood. The Barstow School is now offering hands-on courses for K-12 students in their Makerspace, Technology lab, and Incubation Hub.
