Firework safety
Did you know that larger fireworks explode at a diameter of 800+ ft (about the size of the National WWI Museum and Memorial)? Pretty incredible — until they go off on your lawn. Luckily, there are rules in place so you can contribute to the spectacle safely. Check out this list for spots where fireworks are legal and illegal in city limits (except for sparklers, poppers, and smoke bombs). If you decide to DIY, follow these guidelines. Celebrate some peace + quiet Before you spend the night trying to lure your four-legged friend out from under the bed, you may want to get as far from the commotion as possible.
Your best option is a nearby state park, like Weston Bend State Park or Clinton State Park. Pack some food and water and go stargazing, or even camping. |

With summer in full effect, we here at KCtoday are feeling a little bit left out. You see, as potlucks heat up around the country and grillmasters roll up their sleeves, our city finds itself without a quintessential hot dog.
We’ve all heard of Chicago dogs, NYC has its own recipe, and even Seattle has a signature frankfurter. |
