Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line was really on to something when he said, “Yeah, they call me beach cowboy.” Kansas City’s newest country music festival — Shake the Lake — is taking over Longview Lake this Saturday. Grab your swimsuit + your cowboy hat, and hit the beach.
Lineup
🤠 Dustin Lynch is a decorated singer songwriter with 17 released singles — 7 of which have reached the No. 1 spot on Country Airplay. He just released an EP in July, including the song of the summer “Tequila On A Boat” featuring Chris Lane.
🤠 Chris Janson is revisiting his roots. The artist was born and raised in Perryville, Missouri — south of St. Louis. He has recorded 3 full-length albums + charted multiple singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay, including “Good Vibes” and “Done.”
🤠 Adam Sanders is a breakout country artist deemed “a rookie with a veteran resume” by Taste of Country. He earned his reputation as a rising star after releasing his single “What If I’m Right,” and writing No. 1 songs for Dustin Lynch, Cole Swindell + Luke Bryan among others.
🤠 Casi Joy is a Kansas City native, and back to her hometown after performing at Hot Country Nights in July. She began her career in the Midwest. She had a long run on NBC’s The Voice, where she turned all 4 chairs. Casi has 35+ million video views online.

🎟️ GA tickets are $49 and include access to restaurant pop-ups, craft vendors, the line-dancing stage, lawn games, and a view from the front of the stage.

- Lights, camera, action. AMC Theaters — based in Leawood, KS — bought into a $25 million advertising plan in hopes of attracting more movie-goers. The campaign will target people watching network TV + find movie fans via social media. This is the first time in the company’s 101-year history that it’s invested in a campaign like this. (FOX4)
- A sign of change. You may remember Cordish and B&B Theatres confirmed a lease for the historic Mainstreet Theater at 14th and Main. New signage is going up on the exterior, showing progress in this new venture. B&B plans to add Johnnie’s Jazz Bar & Grill inside + install heated electric seats. 🎥

- Construction crews are on anything but airplane mode. Another milestone — the completion of the roof — was reached at the New Terminal in KCI. The next big task crews will turn their focus towards include interior finishes like flooring, restrooms, and device installation. You can see all of the progress in this 360 video. ✈️

- The University of Kansas Medical Center was awarded a 5-year grant from the National Institutes of Health. The grant money will create a program — TSCORE LIFT — for underserved Kansas high school students pursuing health science careers. 1,400 Kansas students will have access to educational content and real-life health care experiences. - The Kansas City Art Institute is unveiling a special exhibit today titled “All Things Being Equal.” The gallery spotlights artists of color, including Kansas City-native Harold Smith and KCAI graduate Nick Cave. Visitors can view the works for the next 5 weeks. The institute is free Thurs.-Sun. from 12-5 p.m. 🖼️

- Heads up. The COVID-19 drive-thru testing clinic in Lee’s Summit was relocated to the Douglas Municipal Facility — 616 N.E. Douglas St. The site will provide the Johnson County Health Department staff shelter during the colder months and prevent cancellations. The clinic is open from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. (KSHB)

Metro-area firefighters will honor the 343 firefighters who died on 9/11. The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb changed due to the pandemic, and firefighters will complete the climb on their own. In years past, firefighters would gather at the Town Pavilion building downtown to climb 110 flights of stairs — representing the 110 stories of the World Trade Center. (KSHB)
